Jessica became an associate at the firm in June 2016. Jessica joined the firm as an Articling Student in June of 2015. Jessica obtained her law degree from the University of Manitoba, Robson Hall in 2015. Prior to law school, Jessica obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba with a major in Criminology and a minor in Native Studies.


Jessica’s strong drive for Indigenous advocacy is what brought her to law school and shaped her commitment towards a career in the field of Aboriginal law. Throughout her studies in law school, Jessica focused primarily on Constitutional law, Aboriginal and Treaty rights, Metis law, and Environmental law. She also researched and studied the Indian Residential School System, Aboriginal jurisdiction and the Duty to Consult and Accommodate. Jessica was a member of the executive for the Manitoba Aboriginal Law Students’ Association (MALSA) throughout her time at Robson Hall. Jessica brings to the firm her experience as a law student in negotiations and dispute resolution, representing Robson Hall in the national 2015 Kawaskimhon Moot. Jessica was also the recipient of the D.A. Thompson, Q.C. Prize award for the highest standing in Aboriginal Peoples and the Law.

Jessica also has a background in the field of Family law and is interested in the area of child protection. She advanced her experience in this field through participation in Clinical Family law courses and the Legal Help Centre internship.

Prior to law school Jessica had lengthy experience with small business management and human resources. She also worked with Winnipeg Child and Family Services and All Nations Coordinated Response Network (ANCR). While in law school Jessica has had the opportunity to work for the Manitoba Metis Federation as a student intern and gained experience in Aboriginal governance, policy, and Consultation.

Jessica is a proud member of the Manitoba Metis Community, an avid athlete and loves the outdoors. She is excited to continue her career assisting and advocating for the interests of Indigenous Peoples and Communities throughout Manitoba.
